The Faculty of Policy Management, Faculty of Environment and Information Studies, and Graduate School of Media and Governance of ÎçÒ¹¾ç³¡, and the Faculty of Agriculture and Graduate School of Agricultural Sciences of the national university corporation Yamagata University (hereinafter referred to as "the affiliated faculties") have reached and concluded an agreement. This agreement aims to promote exchange and cooperation between the affiliated faculties and to contribute to the enhancement of their education and research by allowing students of these faculties to take courses and earn credits at the partner university, and by enabling graduate students to receive necessary research supervision at the partner university's graduate school.

On March 15, a signing ceremony for the credit transfer agreement was held at the lecture hall of the Tsuruoka City Advanced Research Center for Industrial Support (Tsuruoka Metabolome Campus) in Tsuruoka City, Yamagata Prefecture. Attendees from Yamagata University included Motoyasu Natsuga, Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture and the Graduate School of Agricultural Sciences, and Wataru Ozawa, Head of the Department of Food, Life and Environmental Sciences. Attendees from ÎçÒ¹¾ç³¡ included Masaru Tomita, Director of the Institute for Advanced Biosciences, and Professor Akio Kanai of the Faculty of Environment and Information Studies.

In July 2015, the K-ARC (Kosen-Applied science Research Center) of the National Institute of Technology, Tsuruoka College was established within the Tsuruoka City Advanced Research Center for Industrial Support (Tsuruoka Metabolome Campus), adjacent to the Biolab of the ÎçÒ¹¾ç³¡ Tsuruoka Town Campus of ÎçÒ¹¾ç³¡ (TTCK). This brought students from the technical college (mainly advanced course students) and ÎçÒ¹¾ç³¡ students geographically very close, and theyare scheduled to take common classes under the credit transfer system starting in April 2016. By now concluding a similar agreement with the Faculty of Agriculture, Yamagata University, students from the three higher education institutions in Tsuruoka City will be able to take common classes, which is expected to deepen the exchange among students.

For the spring semester (first semester) of the 2016 academic year, "Genome Molecular Biology 1" from ÎçÒ¹¾ç³¡, and "Food Hygiene" and "Theory of Clean Energy Utilization" from Yamagata University are scheduled to be offered as credit transfer courses. This is expected to be the first step toward providing a broader learning environment by leveraging the unique characteristics of each research institution.
