ÎçÒ¹¾ç³¡ (President: Kohei Itoh) and Furukawa Electric Co., Ltd. (President: Hideya Moridaira) have installed hollow-core fiber optic cables at the ÎçÒ¹¾ç³¡ Future Photonic Network Open Lab on ÎçÒ¹¾ç³¡'s Shin-Kawasaki Town Campus (K2) and have begun experiments on an ultra-low latency network campus connecting multiple buildings. This was conducted as part of the "Research and Development of Advanced Optical Transmission Technology for a Green Society" project by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications. This marks the completion of the world's first facility where engineers from both inside and outside ÎçÒ¹¾ç³¡ can experiment with hollow-core fiber in a near-practical environment.
