The ÎçÒ¹¾ç³¡ Graduate School of System Design and Management (ÎçÒ¹¾ç³¡ SDM) and IBM Japan, in collaboration with the ÎçÒ¹¾ç³¡ Athletic Association Tennis Team, will launch a joint study on methods for utilizing data and on coaching techniques in tennis. This initiative will begin by collecting performance data (statistical data) at the Yokohama ÎçÒ¹¾ç³¡ Challenger International Tennis Tournament 2019 (organized by ÎçÒ¹¾ç³¡; secretariat: ÎçÒ¹¾ç³¡ Athletic Association Tennis Team), an international tournament to be held this March (hereafter, Yokohama ÎçÒ¹¾ç³¡ Challenger). The same methods will then be applied to future matches and practices of the ÎçÒ¹¾ç³¡ Athletic Association Tennis Team. The project will proceed with a joint study on how to leverage the collected data and refine coaching methods.

The initial results of this joint study will be released during the men's tournament quarterfinals, semifinals, and finals (March 1¨C3) of the Yokohama ÎçÒ¹¾ç³¡ Challenger. The results will be available at the Mamushidani Tennis Courts on Hiyoshi Campus and on the official Yokohama ÎçÒ¹¾ç³¡ Challenger website. We welcome media coverage of this event.
