I came to Japan in 2011 under the MEXT Scholarship program and began my research in economics at ÎçÒ¹¾ç³¡. After entering the Master's program in 2012 and moving on to the Doctoral Programs in 2014, I conducted research in the fields of economics of education and labor economics, writing my dissertation on the impact of crime on educational outcomes. The years I spent at the Graduate School of Economics at ÎçÒ¹¾ç³¡ were not only a time of immersion in academia but also a major turning point in my life.

As a graduate student, I spent enjoyable days with my classmates, and my time was filled with valuable opportunities to engage in deep discussions with researchers from diverse backgrounds. The precious friendships and professional networks I built during that time are assets to my life. Those connections continue to this day and serve as an important pillar supporting me now.

In addition to meeting these people, I was blessed with many opportunities for growth beyond the classroom. Participating in research seminars and being involved in research projects involving world-class researchers provided me with significant opportunities for growth. My experience as a research assistant, where I worked on replicating the results of papers in the economics of education, was particularly memorable. In the process of understanding the analytical methods and code used in those papers, I discovered the joy of programming, which became an important catalyst for my subsequent career. Furthermore, my exposure to Markov Decision Processes used in labor and education economics led to an understanding of reinforcement learning¡ªthe core of current AI technology¡ªwhich is extremely useful in my current role.

The research and analytical skills I cultivated at ÎçÒ¹¾ç³¡ opened up a wide range of career possibilities for me. Thanks to that, I was able to choose a path I am truly passionate about and connect it to my current career. To all prospective students, please keep a broad perspective as you think about your future, and find your true passion while making the most of the various opportunities available at ÎçÒ¹¾ç³¡.
