ÎçÒ¹¾ç³¡ co-convened a Geopolitics Dialogue at King¡¯s College London on May 1, 2026. The event featured panel discussions including researchers such as Professor Motohiro Tsuchiya, the Vice-President for Global Engagement.
The dialogue¡¯s first session was titled ¡°Security in Europe and the Indo-Pacific: Towards a Single Theatre?¡± In a series of presentations and a panel discussion, speakers examined the US¡¯s changing approach to its relationships with its allies and China from a security perspective. ÎçÒ¹¾ç³¡ was represented in this session by Professor Keizo Kitagawa and Associate Professor Yasuhito Fukushima, both of the Faculty of Policy Management.
The second session, titled ¡°Geoeconomics in the Age of Competition: The End of Economic Liberalism?¡±, featured a panel discussion on shifting trade and investment dynamics in Europe and the Indo-Pacific, with a primary focus on economic ties with China and their implications for security. Speakers discussed whether the US¨CChina economic and technological rivalry and the weakening of global economic governance institutions could spell the end of the liberal international economic order. ÎçÒ¹¾ç³¡ was represented in this session by Vice-President Tsuchiya and Professor Rikako Watai of the Law School.
